Ikigai Venn diagram template
The popular ikigai diagram overlaps four questions: what you love, what you are good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs. The centre, where all four meet, is your “reason for being”. The four-circle diagram itself was popularised in the West by writers and speakers in the 2010s; ikigai is a Japanese word meaning roughly “a reason to live”.
How to fill in this template
- List answers for each of the four sets separately first.
- Look for items that appear in more than one list and move them into the overlaps.
- Anything in all four goes in the centre. Paste your four lists into the “From lists” tab to do this automatically.
Three ways to use it
- Edit online above, then download PNG or SVG for slides and documents.
- Print the PDF: page 1 in light colour, page 2 as plain outlines for photocopying.
- Paste lists in the “From lists” tab and the overlaps fill themselves.

Questions people ask
Can I print this template?
Yes. Download the PDF in US Letter or A4. Page 1 is lightly coloured and page 2 is plain outlines, which uses less ink and photocopies well. Both have Name and Date lines for classroom use.
What are the four circles of ikigai?
What you love, what you are good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs.
What are the overlaps in an ikigai diagram called?
In the common Western version, love + good at is passion, love + world needs is mission, world needs + paid for is vocation, and good at + paid for is profession. Ikigai is where all four meet.
